This one is for all my fellow photographers and creators and you won’t wanna miss it! Whether you are a seasoned photographer or complete newbie one of the best things that will help you hone your craft is….. second shooting. Becs, why should I do more second shooting? Experience, experience, and more experience. Photography is not something where you pick up a camera and automatically have the dreamiest golden hour or most clean and bright photos. It will take time to get comfortable with your camera, and figure out your unique and individual style. Second shooting is an amazing way for you to get that experience built up, but also to learn from another photographer. Through all of this you can build up confidence in what you bring to your clients, your portfolio, and continue to grow!
What I have learned from second shooting:
+ Bomb and amazing locations for engagement shoots, weddings, family sessions, couples sessions, etc.
+ Meeting new vendors and building connections and networking with them.
+ Seeing what timelines look like and what works best for different brides and photographers.
+ Learning about how to shoot in different lighting and working with and not against a location.
Below are some of my favorite moments I captured from all the weddings I was second shooting in the past year!
I see my photography life as a complete life altering decision. I shot my first wedding in Cancun, Mexico and have since shot weddings in four different states. From traveling between the gulf coast all the way back to the midwest, I can't imagine what it would be like to not capture milestones along the way.
